Katelyn graduated from Shepherd University in 2014 with a B.S. in biology. She then went on to complete a M.S. in biology with a focus on forest ecology at James Madison University. After graduation, Katelyn took a forestry technician internship with the US Fish and Wildlife Service at the Southeastern Louisiana Refuge Complex. During her time in Louisiana, she became a certified Type II Wildland Firefighter and was able to work on both prescribed burns and wildfires. Upon completion of her internship, Katelyn moved back home to Shepherdstown and joined the Sustainable Solutions team! When not at work, she enjoys spending time riding horses and hanging out with her cat, two dogs, and seven chickens. Katelyn loves the outdoors and works hard to incorporate sustainable ecological practices on her family farm. Sustainable values her knowledge of fire and ecology and is excited to use her in the field!
